Principal’s Message

Every parent wants a school where their child will feel safe to grow and learn to love learning. With so many schools out there, it is a hard decision to make. While we have many programs that set us aside from other schools, it is our sense of community that keeps families coming back to STJW.

The top five reasons your child will thrive at STJW

  • Our relationship with our Parish, Trinity Catholic College, and the wider community ensures we belong to a dynamic and supportive community.
  • We have a dedicated team of educators who use contemporary educational practice to challenge all students to be reflective, self-motivated risk-takers.
  • We provide a range of opportunities to nurture every child’s strengths and talents
  • Our community is strong, We believe that a good relationship between school, child, and family is crucial to a good educational pathway
  • The values of St Joseph the Worker and Mary Aikenhead underpin who we are at STJW

Come and visit us and we know you will leave saying β€œSTJW is the best-kept secret.”

We are open for enrolments and look forward to welcoming you for a tour. Please call our school office to see our community spirit, welcoming grounds, and supportive classroom environments.

This school is very friendly and welcoming.Β  The teachers encourage the students to try new things and learn from your mistakes.Β  Even though we are not a big school, we get an extraordinary education from this school. – Winnie, student

Our History

St Joseph the Worker Catholic Primary School Auburn South was founded in January 1962. Our school beginnings were unique as the first principal, Mrs McGhee, was a lay principal and there were only infant classes which were held in what is now the school hall.

From 1964 until 1987 we were blessed to have the Sisters of Charity lead our school. We continue to follow in their charism to share the love, tenderness, and concern of Christ with all whom we meet, seeing Christ in everyone. Over time our school grew and co-educational classes went up to Year 6. With the help and support of the parish and school community many improvements were made to the school site: the building of a new classroom block, a new administration and library block, and the extension and landscaping of the playground. Those who helped to found and build our school inspired our school motto β€˜Creating a difference’.

We are proud to have St Joseph the Worker as our Patron. Through his hard work, he was able to honour God, our Father, as he used the talents given to him. As a carpenter, he was able to provide for the material needs of Mary and Jesus and provide us with an example of service and love.
